Report on the perception of women survivors of breast cancer about self-care

Objective: to understand the perception of women survivors breast cancer about self-care and its barriers or facilitators. Method: qualitative study, in which ten who underwent surgery for participated, carried out from May September 2018, Juiz de Fora, Brazil. The semi-structured interviews were analyzed using Bardin’s Content Analysis, originating category “Autocuidado: motivação para a vida“. Results: given effects treatments, reported facing readaptation process, they develop coping strategies based on motivational factors provided by support network, encouraging performance practices. Conclusion: although therapies bring negative impacts women’s lives, tend reframe their vision health care strengthen affective bonds, fundamental elements motivation continuity trajectory combating cancer.
